4 Reasons to Love Pattaya
Thailand is one of those places that just seems to grab hold of you. There are those who a desperate to come here and those who are not so keen. The one thing that both groups have in common, is the fact they will leave having fallen in love with the place. Many decide that they love the place so much that they want to live here and quite frankly, who can blame them? There are so many fantastic places to visit in Thailand such as the ancient city Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai and Pattaya.
This article is purely about Pattaya, a destination that is just a 90 minute taxi journey from the main international airport in Bangkok. You could be forgiven for turning your nose up at the place, after all the first things that you hear about Pattaya are usually associated with the notorious red-light district. That certainly exists, it would be hard to deny it, you only have to walk past the neon signs, the seemingly never ending go-go bars and beer bars and this still proves to be as big an attraction today as it was decades ago but Pattaya has so much more to offer other than just sex.
Here at Love Pattaya Thailand, we are always asked to give our opinion on the many things that the city has to offer. Of course, some people are referring to bars and nightlife whilst others are talking more generally. Some people like to visit temples, others like shopping, golf or just chilling out at the nearby islands. It doesn’t really matter what your interests are you will be able to find something that appeals to you. Here are our four reasons to love Pattaya:
Mimosa – Pattaya; City of Love!
A place that often gets overlooked is Mimosa, a complex that includes everything under one roof. There are shops, restaurants and entertainment all in a romantic atmosphere with buildings designed to look like French architecture. The place is known as the ‘City of Love’ and that is what Mimosa tries and succeeds to convey. Although it is located to the south of Pattaya, near the Ambassador Hotel, you could be forgiven for thinking that you where is western Europe, it is a great place to spend the day with a loved one or friends and the perfect reason to love Pattaya!
Art in Paradise
Galleries and museums may not be things that you would commonly associate with Pattaya but that is just one of the problems of people coming with pre-conceived ideas. Art in Paradise is an interactive art gallery and museum that changes the way that most people look at and appreciate art. It takes your mind to another level and it seems that everyone in the world, regardless of where they come from appreciates quality artistic photos and of course, selfies!
If you are a selfie lover, why not take one next to one of the incredible pieces of artwork that are on display. Art in Paradise describes itself as ‘an illusion’ art gallery and has 10 different rooms all of which have their own theme. The galleries include the Camouflage Room, Under the Ocean Room, Wildlife Room, Classical Art Room, Civilization Room, Surrealism Room, Dinosaur Room, Waterfall Room, Scenery Room, and Exhibition of Art Room. This is a superb way to enjoy art, even if you don’t class yourself as an art lover and that is why it makes our list.
Alcazar Cabaret Show
Pattaya is renowned for having a large transgender, transvestite or ladyboy community and overall they are generally well received and seen as part of normal Pattaya life. Now, you may not want to go and see the ladyboys in a bar, but you really should take in one of the world-famous cabaret shows. There are a few that you could choose from such as Tiffany’s in North Pattaya but an alternative in Alcazar which is opposite Soi 5 on Pattaya 2nd Road.
The sets and the performers are excellent and the whole show is very well choreographed. There are lots of special effects, and we are not just talking about none of the performers being girls, so all in all, it is well worth seeing. It seems everybody is fascinated by the ladyboys for one reason or another and this is just another reason why we all love Pattaya so much.
Sanctuary of Truth
The Sanctuary of Truth is one of the most intriguing sights in Pattaya and is an ornate, hand carved, teak construction that can be found on a headland at the end of Naklua Soi 12. The whole construction is built on 2 rai of land and although designed to withstand the elements is not treated in any way. When you visit you will instantly be amazed by the intricate carvings and attention to detail. The whole of the Sanctuary is carved both internal and externally and is intended to reflect an ancient vision of earth and Eastern philosophy, not influenced by religion.
It may appear like an ancient structure but it was only commissioned in 1981 and is due to be completed in 2050. This is something that is simply unique, there isn’t another place like this in the world so you are bound to fall in love with the place as soon as you enter.
Pattaya is a truly magnificent place, one that is unrivalled. Different nationalities and religions get on in perfect harmony and if you aren’t harming anybody then you are pretty much left to your own devices. If you have never been, you really don’t know what you are missing. We have given just 4 reasons to love Pattaya but it could so easily have been 40!
