Making an Impression
Walking in- you really know you have arrived somewhere a bit special. Soft Jazz music plays in the background and the lighting is nice and low. Immaculately turned out waiters will escort you to your beautifully laid table and take great pleasure in showing off their knowledge of the large menu and wine lists. Saying some things on the Cafe Des Amis menu are fresh is an understatement, LOVEPATTAYA ordered the Tasmanian Mussels as a starter to which we were informed they had sold out because the order only comes in once week! (Try to get there on Thursday; this is when there weekly order of seafood comes in). We recommend calling ahead to check availability of certain dishes.
Australian Lamb Shank
After much debating LOVEPATTAYA finally settled on the Australian Lamb Shank which came with crisp seasonal veg, creamy mash in rich gravy, it was melt-in-the-mouth perfection. Dessert was a selection of taster sweets served in shot glasses which included, and beautiful panacotta and a lovely tiramisu.
Extensive Drinks Menu
If you like booze you are also in luck! Des Amis has a selection of over 150 spirits in its well stock bar, the highly trained staff can whip up any cocktail of your choosing. The wine list is also extensive, with over 50 varieties from 8 countries including 10 types of champagne. Their house wines of the moment are a 2011 Cabernet Merlot from Chile and a 2012 Sauvignon Blanc again from Chile.
