Cafe Racer is a bar located in the centre of LK Metro in the heart of Pattaya’s entertainment area.
LK Metro is a popular L shaped street with a vast variety of activities for the tourist. Bars, restaurants, live music, Go-Go venues, street vendors can all be found in the amazing location. In addition, LK Metro is fed with customers from Soi Buakhao and Soi Diana, another two well known destinations in Pattaya.
The Bar is owned and managed by Steve and Mark, along with Jason and his partner Natipha. Steve hails from York and is a third level designer or inventor of designs. He is responsible for the design and creativity in the bar. Jason comes from Norwich and is a former off shore worker in the gas and oil industry. The pair have been in Thailand for four years and fourteen years respectively. M and Natnipha are the hardworking management team.
They opened for business in August 2016, following careful design work from Steve. The bar has a black and Yellow tiled floor, tall tables with four stools at each of them and seats around sixty guests. There is so much originality and uniqueness at Cafe Racer that really has to bee seen to be believed. For instance, ringing the bell to buy the ladies a drink, is not done in the normal manner in this bar. It actually has a show ground “test your strength” machine, where you hit a metal pin with a mallet and the puck shoots up to ring the bell. The machine was built by Steve.
There is an waltzer hidden beneath the bar, that can be extracted for photo purposes. Simply ask at the bar and the waltzer will magically appear for you to sit in and have the moment captured on camera. At Cafe Racer, there is a “Wall of Death” on the ceiling. It is a scaled down model of course but again, adding to the bars individuality. At the far end, just along from the corner bar, is a fully operational Cafe Racer Bike. Once again, like everything else in the premises, constructed by Steve.
The Cafe Racer walls are adorned by memorabilia from decades past including images of the Animals, Sex Pistols, Beatles, Marc Bolan, Rolling Stones, Queen and many more. On the opposite wall are tributes to Steve McQueen, Eddie Kidd, Evel Knievel, Grease the movie, UK petrol stations and so much more. As you will have gathered this is very much a themed bar covering everything from the 1950s all the way through till present day.
TVs show constant music videos, where you will find something for everyone, for they have over 1500 videos, providing 36 hours of non-stop entertainment at Cafe Racer. Listen to Elvis, The Animals, The Stones, Blondie, Pulp, ZZ Top, Status Quo or the Bay City Rollers. They have it all.
One of the TVs is designed by Steve and resembles and old fashioned retro model from days gone by. Multicoloured strip lights provide the ambient lighting and a long mirror adds to the spaciousness of this amazing venue.
Cafe Racer is air conditioned, fitted with large blowers and fans, all with the intention of keeping the customer cool but not freezing cold. Of course like many Pattaya bars, you can sit by the roadside of the open fronted venue and watch the goings on of the wonderous LK Metro, whilst you enjoy a cold drink.
Cafe Racer offer a selection of cocktails, beers, spirits, soft drinks, wines and shots at fantastic prices.
At Cafe Racer there are Happy Hours twice daily. From 16:00 till 19:00 and again from midnight till 02:00, seven days per week.
Cafe Racer employs 18 members of staff, all adorned in one of three Cafe Racer uniforms. The girls are friendly, welcome you with a warm smile and service is fast and efficient.
The attention to detail in this themed bar is unbelievable. Steve is a very skilful man and it shows in the design and concept in the Cafe Racer bar. Every adornment in Cafe Racer is created by him and is testimony to his inventiveness.
Check it out.
