You won’t find Al Capone or the Kray Twins at Gangster Ink but it is possible if you ask, that long term Pattaya resident and owner Pop, could create an excellent likeness of them for you. In the form of a tattoo that is. Possibly even rising from their graves.
This shop, which is on Soi 14 just off Walking Street, opened for business in 2016. It is in an ideal location to capture a lot of passing trade from those who either work in or frequent Pattaya’s number one Tourist entertainment location.
The shop where all the artistic stuff takes place, features a large glass front, permitting people to view the inside with ease. The decor is a mixture of black and grey on the back wall, with images adding to a bit of colour with their golden frames.
A large white archway can be seen in the centre of the shop, possibly acting as a support for the buildings above. A sofa is provided for guests to wait on their partner or friends as they receive their tattoo and a central light hangs in the middle of the shop providing the necessary lighting.
They use a Computer to design work or for Googling ideas for customers. And of course no tattoo shop would be complete without the obligatory tattoo chairs, where customers can relax as their art work is undertaken.
The guys seem to have many repeat customers who obviously enjoy their style of work. And why not? If you are happy with a service, you tend to go back time and time again.
Get Inked By A Gangster
The samples available at this venue are excellent but they have a tendency to lean towards the darker side of art. Most work is completed using only black ink or dark colours, such as deep reds, however, that does not distract from the quality on offer.
Drama plays a key part in many samples. Kissing skulls embracing on one person’s back is a superb example of what they are capable off. The tattoo is comes to life with awesome shading and shadows and a lot of creativity.
Tribal art is evident too in their work and can be seen in many sleeve styles. They often blend a tribal design with a portrait or horror theme, delivering something special in the process.
A young blonde girl has another example of this style on her thigh. It features birds and flowers, running from her knee to her hip.
Stunning women’s faces appear in another sleeve design, with the attention to detail out of this world.
For something unusual, how about a large owl tattooed on your buttocks, complete with golden eyes and surrounding trees. Again it is black ink work with those eyes providing the main focus of attention.
A girl has one side from her breasts to her knees, decorated in a graveyard/Halloween theme. There is at least six characters in the tattoo, which offers great originality from the design.
Another excellent set of samples uses a range of dark colours with the theme being cartoon horror, featuring ghosts, skeletons, skulls etc. The blending of the colours and the skill involved has to be seen to be appreciated.
For those with a love or horror, darkness and mystery and fancy something original in the form of a tattoo, these guys are the masters. They can of course offer many other styles but they stand out in this department.
Gangster Ink also offers traditional Thai bamboo tattoo services for anyone who wishes to try that. Go in, see what’s on offer and let the darkness prevail.
If you wish a specific tattooist, you should either call or pay a visit and make an appointment. They are available seven days per week.
