Once upon a time, a man called Didier, arrived in Pattaya to begin a new life as a restaurateur, settling for a premises in Rungland Village, just off Pattaya Tai.

Many of you will be asking where Rungland is and some will have passed by or even through it, without knowing its name. If you are at the Sue Sarn junction on Pattaya Tai, where it meets Third Road, step back 100 metres or so, and Rungland is on your left.

There are hotels, apartments plus many small to medium sized businesses located here, including internet cafes, convenience stores, tattoo shops, restaurants, bars, laundries and street vendors.

This is where you will find the 40 seater restaurant known as La Canteena.

The Venue

As you walk along or park outside this restaurant, you will see as you approach, a blackboard with daily specials advertised. Step further in and you will find a number of tables, clad with a table cloth and the menu resting under the glass tops.

There is a fair bit of greenery due to the plant life around the venue and each table has a wine holder, ideal for those who enjoy a drink from the juice of the grape.

The venue is open at the front, which allows cool air to gently blow through the restaurant.

There are various sizes of tables, so romantic meals for two or family gatherings can be catered for with ease.

A well stocked bar is present, so acquiring a drink with your meal is never going to be a problem.

The venue is pleasant and with friendly staff, you will soon feel welcome at La Canteena.

The Cuisine

The menu as expected is mainly French but also being from this part of the world, you can expect quality food, with delicious flavours and textures from their range of edibles.

Steaks, pastas, salad, omelettes, seafood and much more can be found on their bill of fare, all of which is cooked to perfection in a French style.

Enjoy chicken based dishes, tasty cheeses, pizzas, pork, lamb, beef and so much more can all be ordered from La Canteena’s menu.

No matter what you decide on, whether it is a simple soup of the day or a full blown main course and all the trimmings, you can expect good quality food.

Beer lovers will delight in the fact they can enjoy an ice cold Chang, Heineken, Leo, Singa, San Miguel or Tiger beer from the drinks menu.

Or you could partake of a whisky, gin, vodka, rum, a liqueur or a red or white wine.

Soft drinks are on the menu too, should you not wish to drink alcohol.

The venue has seven fully furnished, well equipped rooms for rent. Speak to the staff or give them a call for more details on both availability and pricing.

A very good venue for a quality French meal with friendly staff and reasonable prices.

They have daily specials available, which you can see upon arrival.
