Pattaya has many restaurants and cafes, with the most common of those offering Thai, Italian, Indian or western food. This one delivers something different – Iranian food.
Jafar, the owner, has called Patttaya home since 2002. The restaurant however did not open until 2015 and can be found on Second Road, just behind Walking Street, which offers a good catchment area for passing trade.
The venue has a capacity of fifty diners and provides employment to five full time staff, who will serve you in a friendly manner.
The venue sits on a corner, next to an alley that leads down to Walking Street. Its blue sign is written in both English and Arabic. In the dining area, you will sit at a black table with matching coloured chairs. Although the decor is plain, with light brown and greys providing the colour scheme, it is clean and fits with the cafe style of dining.
There are a number of pillars, acting as support for the floors above, which add a bit of character to the venue.
The windows provide images from their menu, giving potential customers an idea of what the cuisine is on sale here.
A television is present, which has cable channels available and Persian music plays in the background to set the atmosphere.
Much of what is on offer is traditional Iranian food as you would expect but they do offer a wide variety of dishes from their menu. It is more cafe based than restaurant, meaning that the prices will not break your budget.
For example, you can choose from Beef or Chicken Barbecue Kebab served with Rice or at the other end of the scale you could have Fried Fillet of Fish served with French Fries, much as you would expect in a western eating house.
They do an Iranian Shank of Lamb, which looks delicious or another dish from the Middle East featuring Lamb and Red Kidney Beans mixed in a Herbal Sauce and served with Rice.
You will see a range of soups and yogurt dishes prepared following traditional recipes and a good selection of salads.
Other items featured are Swedish Meatballs, Fried Chicken and Cashew Nuts, Spring Rolls, Chinese Sausages with Rice and a few Pasta dishes, offering something from other parts of the world.
Western style burgers are available if this is more to your taste.
They have the food covered with something that should ensure everyone can select something to suit their palettes.
You will not find anything containing alcohol at Naeib Restaurant. Instead, they offer an array of soft drinks such as Fanta, Sprite, Soda and Coke.
It is nice to see some diversity in Pattaya and a restaurant that offers something away from the norm. The prices are very good, making it an affordable place to have a meal or snack any time of the day.
Pay them a visit and either try a taste of Iranian cuisine or for the less adventurous you can always have fish and chips or a burger with its salads and dressings.
