Tattoo Corner Pattaya owner ( Khun Odd ) and main tattoo artist at Tattoo Corner on Second Road, first came to Pattaya 13 years ago. He opened Tattoo Corner in 2004 after running his first tattoo parlour on Soi 10 just off Second Road for 2 years. He has been actively tattooing since 1994 and was inspired by a very good friend in Bangkok, where Khun Odd got his first tattoo at the age of 21.
Tattoo Corner When you approach Tattoo Corner entrance, take your time to look around. Tattoo parlours all tell their own story from the pictures on the wall to ornaments, fixtures and fittings and of course the tattoo artists themselves. The shop has a glass front entrance with neon signs and to the left on the top glass shelf you are greeted by a skull sat on a carved tree root! Sat next to the shelves in the floor is an intricately carved stool that has a skeleton theme. In the window itself you will see clearly displayed Khun Odd’s all important Certificate from the Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with Pattaya City Tourism Authority. It states that Khun Odd has served a tattooing apprenticeship and has been proven to follow strict hygiene practices according to the Ministry of Public Health regulations.
The greeting area is comfortable and has a relaxed atmosphere, with a comfortable sofa and overhead fan to keep you cool. The walls are covered in hundreds of pictures of tattoos, and directly in front of you are photos of Khun Odd’s and his assistants work. You soon realise after looking at these photos that you are about to meet one of the best free hand tattoo artists in the City.
We received a warm welcome from Khun Odd, who was preparing to tattoo a customer’s lower leg. He told us about his friends tattoo shop in Bangkok and how it inspired him to become a tattoo artist. Khun Odd is a fabulous free hand artist and many of his designs are original created from inspiring discussions with his customers about what they want. Some customers come with a strong idea of what they require and he will help to visualise this by sketching the design before work begins. Khun Odd will paint the outline onto the body area to be tattooed, then follow the design with the tattoo gun and needle. The ink is inserted into the dermis layer of the skin and will produce a permanent reminder of your visit to Tattoo Corner Pattaya.
Tattoo Corner Most of the customers are tourists, Second road is very close to Walking Street and many clients simply see the shop whilst sightseeing and shopping. For guys, a shoulder or top of arm design is often the choice for their first tattoo, also full sleeves, legs and back tattoos are popular. (A full back tattoo can take up to 30 hours with around 5 sittings if the design is intricate.) Khun Odd is particularly good at creating accurate, detailed designs of faces especially skulls, demons and Buddha likenesses. He likes to create contrast between good and evil, light and shade within his artistic creations.
Tattoo design styles offered include anything from traditional temple designs, bamboo tattoos – Khun Odd has an assistant who is an expert bamboo tattooist, to complex 3D modern designs. All tattoos are unique creations so costs are calculated after consultation depending on time, complexity and how many different colour inks are to be used.
All customers’ tattoos are created using brand new needles that are also sterilised using an Autoclave sterilisation unit. Hygiene is of paramount importance when tattooing and of course, Khun Odd and his assistant wear surgical gloves for all sittings.
Tattoo Corner Pattaya really deserves to be recognised as one of the best tattoo parlours in the city.
Khun Odd is a humble, quiet man, but his inking speaks for itself. Well worth a visit if you are considering a getting a new tattoo!
