The Pump Station is one of many businesses that fall under this banner, which includes bars and guest houses. This particular venue is located on Soi 13/2 or Soi Post Office to those who are familiar with the area.
The street connects two popular roads together with traffic heading from Beach Road to Second Road following the one way system.
Owner Ploy, comes from the province known as Kamphaeng Phet, which lies to the north of Bangkok close to the Myanmar border. Ploy opened this bar in 2013 which seems to be a popular venue with tourists and regular customers.
Looking from the roadside, you will notice a lot of greenery in the form of large pot plants or hanging baskets. There is outside seating for customers to make use of and a bright red “Pump Station” sign above the open fronted building.
The premises is long, with many fans lining the ceiling to keep the temperature under control. The colour scheme is red and black with the lighting blending in to match the decor.
Bar stools surround the serving area for those who like to drink and chat to the bar staff. Further seating can be found against a wall that plays host to a long mirror, which gives the impression of spaciousness within the bar area.
Customers can enjoy a game of pool or watch one of the three televisions, which generally feature music videos. The girls are friendly and happy to chat to customers and of course will be more than happy to have a drink with you.
The Pump Station has a good range of bottled beers including Leo, Tiger, Singha and Chang. Spirit drinkers also have an excellent choice with rums, vodkas, whiskies and gins all being available.
Wine, shots, and soft drinks complete the list, which will have something for you on it. For those looking for a bargain, they operate happy hours up until 19:00 but please check with the staff as times may be subject to change.
This is a lovely bar to sit down with friends and enjoy a reasonably priced drink. If on your own, the girls will keep you company or beat you at pool.
And of course it is close to the beach and all public transport.
