Wongamat Beach is another little jewel of a beach, nestling in a crescent shaped bay; Wongamat Beach Pattaya has everything to offer. The name means ‘salt fields’, in reference to the predominant occupation of the area before the rise of tourism- salt farming.
This beach is probably a little bigger than Cosy Beach and its South Pattaya’s neighbour, Asia Beach, but it has the same laid back and tranquil atmosphere. You hear people griping about Pattaya’s beaches all the time. They say they are crowded, dirty, and you are harassed by hawkers and vendors constantly. For the people who don’t venture beyond Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach there may be some truth in that, but the truth is, they are not the only beaches in Pattaya.
Wongamat Beach is quite picturesque, with the lovely clean sand as it is well maintained. There are lots of hotels situated on Wongamat Beach, including the Centara Grand, Loma Resort, Long Beach Garden Hotel, Garden Cliff Resort and the Asiawan. Clean, roomy and friendly, Wongamat Beach is another beach that you can take the kids, where you don’t have to worry about them running around and kicking sand up in someone’s face or worse, falling on someone’s lap.
The Beach still has small fishing boats coming and going on its Southern tip, which just adds to the charm. There is also a rocky outcrop which is an ideal place for those that would like to do a spot of fishing. There are chairs for hire on the beach as you would expect, as well as restaurants, bars and access is easy as there are no steep steps to climb so you will not be exhausted by the time you get there.
So, if you are looking for a nice cosy beach that’s not too crowded and fun for the family, try it out and enjoy your day at the beach.
